I am feeling really depressed lately, especially today. I am pretty sure I know why, but I also think there are many factors contributing to this feeling. Some of those factors I need to work on changing, but it's difficult when I feel this way... a vicious cycle, as they say. In addition, I am having tummy issues today, most likely due to not eating very well lately. {sigh}

In general, I could be better. :(

However, last night's viewing of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was great fun, worth waiting in line all day to get the good seats for myself and the five people who were with me. Nice to see friends as always, and the movie was wonderful (even with all the changes and omissions). I also saw "Bruno" the other night, which was seriously funnier than Sacha Baron Cohen's previous movie "Borat" (which I also really liked).

I just realized that the last few posts were about stuff other than what is going on with me personally, so here we go...

First of all, my back has seriously been killing me the last 3 or 4 days. No matter how many pain pills I take it still hurts. I must have tweaked it pretty bad recently.

Still could be getting more hours at workplaces, but I am trying to not spend as much money as I'd like to. I'm getting better at closing the Calafia market IMHO, which is helping with co-worker relationships. The only real difficult thing is not constantly eating all the desserts we carry.

Yesterday was spent partly at Tanforan, where I read some graphic novels that had come out recently. After that I did a little bit of shopping at Target, but when I got home I realized that though I had just got some bread, I didn't have peanut butter. {Sigh} I waited for angry_wolfCarl to show up, and we watched some more episodes of Venture Bros., which is quickly turning into one of my new favorite shows. When that was over we were hungry and decided to eat at Melaka, a place up San Bruno Avenue (where Lyon's used to be) which was pretty good for being buffet. On my way home I stopped at three different mini-marts trying to get a tube of Werther's, to no avail, but I did purchase a Pepsi-Cola Throwback... which contains natural sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I had to try it, and it was good, but the caffeine kept me awake long enough to enjoy "Special" and "Timecrimes" (see my last post). The problem with Throwback is it's only out for a limited time, so I'm really looking forward to trying Pepsi Natural. Anyway, finally I went to sleep.

Woke up and tried for awhile in vain to watch the latest ep of Lost, cleverly entitled Some Like It Hoth, and which I finally saw and enjoyed quite alot. Now I'm just relaxing for a bit before I get ready to go to work at the bookstore later tonight.

Oh, and the new Harry Potter 6 trailer is full of win! Also, tickets are now available for the midnight showings of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" on Thursday night/Friday morning 30 April/1 May. I'll be seeing it at Tanforan (of course)... who's with me?

Started the Excel spreadsheet for the SiliCon dealers last night, but I still have to do the rest and then get emails out to them, although I did email back some of the dealers who have been waiting for a reply.

Was woken up earlier than I had planned to be awake by a dog right outside my window. People wonder why I'm not a huge fan of dogs... that is one reason why. Cats don't bark and they don't have huge tongues that slobber all over you. Anyway, I got some laundry into the washer, then after a bit started pumping out emails with my resume attached all rapidfire-like. With any luck I'll have a new job by the 1st. I'll just have to make sure I am able to get that time off in October for SiliCon...

On a side note, the trailer for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" premiers on AOL tonight sometime around 9 PM. Woo hoo!

Happy birthday to Harry Potter!

Harry is 27 years old today! ...or would be if he weren't a fictional character...

Also, happy birthday to J.K. Rowling! She turns 42.

Just finished.

Wow. So good.

Thank you, J.K. Rowling.

It was great... around 12:30 this morning we got our copies. The Hillsdale B&N moved through the lines very quickly, and the staff seemed happy to have everyone there. Anyway we got the books and left immediately, got home, and I started reading.

Seven chapters down...

Great stuff so far. Fun and a few surprises, If only I didn't have to work today, I would totally finish the book by this evening.

In 24 hours or so I will own a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

To paraphrase a friend of mine: anyone who spoils the ending or any part of this book will meet with an untimely demise. Ya'll have been warned.

Oh, I just have to:

And one more:

So HP 5 was awesome. Yes, parts were left out. It didn't really matter, because what they had in there was darn good. The actress playing Luna stole the scenes she was in, and Umbridge made my hands curl into fists every time she spoke. Anyway, I may re-read the book and possibly book six as well before book seven comes out.

As for work, I had a surprise today. Some guys came in looking for 3-D glasses for some reason. Turns out one of them is Bad Planet (a comic book) writer and star of the 2004 film "The Punisher" Thomas Jane. The guy bought a few copies of his comic, shook my hand and posed for the following picture: )

... so that was cool. The guys who were with him said they'd bring him back around the store soon.

I've had a headache for most of the day, so I think it's time for bed.

In about twelve hours (9:40 PM to be exact) djinnethGwynne and I will be attending a showing of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at the Downtown San Mateo theatre. If I wasn't working today I'd be standing in line, but Gwynnie said she'd do that for a few hours for us. We just Fandangoed our tickets, so we're all set.

Can't wait!

The new They Might Be Giants CD, The Else, is out in stores today. I have a copy on hold for me at B&N. Guess what I'll be listening to at work all day today?

The new Harry Potter movie comes out tomorrow. I plan on seeing it tomorrow night after work. Of course I'll be wearing my OotP hat I got for Eksmas a few years ago.

Already pre-ordered the new Harry Potter book... midnight madness here we come!

Woot!

Today begins day one of two days off. I got to sleep in, which was nice, but for the last few days and now as well I seem to be constantly tired and my throat feels like I'm on the verge of a cold. Fortunately I have the entirety of season one of Veronica Mars (minus the first six episodes which I've already seen) to watch thanks to eliteLouise. Speaking of her, it's been nice to hang out with her this last week, especially as I needed to get away from the house and could use a friend to talk to.

This last week has been a strange mixture of conflicting emotions. One minute I'm feeling sad and rejected, the next I'm happy and at peace. I've been confused, anxious, angry, nauseous, and it's just so damned draining that it's no wonder I'm physically sick and tired. I am glad that djinnethGwynne and I are talking again... it felt horrible to keep my shields up, especially with someone who, even despite our romantic relationship, has been my best friend for the last four years. I felt the need to distance myself from her to work through the hurt she caused me, but I found that talking to her worked even better. We'll see what happens from here, but I think it won't be as difficult as I imagined it would be a week ago.

So I got the Criterion Collection versions of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (in the mail) and "Chasing Amy" (at Target) recently, both inexpensive, both movies that I've wanted to own for quite awhile. Speaking of spdrwnAmy, she sent me a Spider-Man chocolate egg (also in the mail). Thanks for the sweetness Amy! I also pre-ordered the new MC Frontalot CD, and it should arrive by Monday hopefully as it's being sent fron San Francisco.

Oh yeah... what do ya'll think of the cover(s) for the seventh Harry Potter book?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has an official release date from the author herself:

Woot! I am so there...

First of all... death to the ants! Kill! Maim!! Destroy!!!

Second, and unrelated, I had the weirdest dreams last night/this morning. I can't remember them, but I know I had them.

Third, had a great day yesterday hanging out with angry_wolfCarl at Tanforan. We had sushi at the food court, which didn't do very much to stave off the hunger monster, nor the headache that had been growing. I was able to buy the special cover, 2 disc edition of Harry Potter 4 for djinnethGwynne. After that, Gwynne picked us up and then we met up with her dad for dinner at Black Angus. Mmmm... meat. We then dropped Carl off and went home ourselves, watched a bit of the special features on the Harry Potter DVD, and went to bed. By the time I got into bed my headache had gotten worse, so I took a few pills... which may have been the cause of the dreams.

Tonight I am looking forward to seeing "The Hills Have Eyes" with Gwynne at the Mercado (yay for free passes from work!)... it's a date!

So I had a nice time last night with djinnethGwynne, alotheriaSarah J., and camilleDorie at the Spring Fling, and afterward at Max's Opera Cafe. I felt very lucky to accompany three beautiful women for the night. It was cool to hear Gwynne sing, but of course I felt like she wasn't able to sing enough in my opinion. Also, it would have been cool to have the money to blow on the auctions.

I just had a nice lunch consisting of chicken gumbo soup and a grilled cheese sourdough sandwich, made for me with love by my wonderful girl. We watched Once More With Feeling (I can't watch that episode without tearing up a bit towards the end). Earlier Gwynnie and I visited with her dad, which was nice (albeit short) and we have also obtained some new furniture (well, new to us), including an entertainment center. I of course took care of the electronics setup, though this time I realized I can get the VCR in as well since we're not using cable.

I'd really like to see the Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation tonight, but I'm not sure if we'll make it down there. I've always liked it in the past, and I know of at least a few people who want to go.

In other news, I'm looking forward to Tuesday, when Gwynnie is going to be buying the fourth Harry Potter movie on DVD. I'll be getting it eventually, but there's no point in both of us having a copy as we live in the same house.

Last night djinnethGwynne and I left the Burrow and shopped at Whole Foods for a bit, I got a pizza there and a natural sugar soda. We then got to the house where Gwynne's housesitting, and soon we were eating dinner and watching Star Wars 3 (which, as well as being one of the best of all six movies IMHO, sounds very nice on their sound system). After the movie we got into bed, played with their dog, who is a real sweetie, and then I read while Gwynnie slept (fortunately one of the kids that lives there owns all of the Harry Potter books so I was able to read a few chapters of book 6).

Today, after a yummy brunch at Jack In The Box, we did some shopping while trying not to get completely soaked by the rain. We stopped in B & N, Old Navy, Tower Tecords, Lee's, Longs, and finally Beauty World. Now Gwynne is making cinnamon ornaments for tonight's festivities... the smell is making me hungry.

I had a good time tonight walking around Hillsdale Mall, eating and shopping. It started with djinnethGwynne showing up with angry_wolfCarl (whom she had picked up from work), then shortly thereafter sausage_boyLloyd showed up. He drove us all to the mall where we started off by having something to eat in the food court, then going into Cost Plus. While we were there we ran into Manny (Lloyd had actually set that up), then a bit later jasonwarlockWarlock and Alex. It was cool to talk with them for a bit, Rocky Horror at the Hyatt was brought up... I need to try to find out what's going on with that. Then the four of us walked around the mall for quite awhile. I saw a few things I wanted to get (but couldn't of course) at the game store and Hot Topic... okay, and the Lego store too. Eventually we left the mall and headed to Borders for awhile (Sin City recut! must get!), then Lloyd dropped Gwynnie and I off before taking Carl home. All in all a great night. Now I'm going to take the new book light Gwynnie got for me from Borders and use it to read Harry Potter 6.
