  • Applying for a job with a security company (with angry_wolfCarl's help). The pay is great, and it gets me out of retail.

  • Wasn't feeling well the past two days... allergies acted up real badly, was sneezing up a storm earlier today.

  • Checked out the Lords of the Samurai exhibit at the Asian Art Museum with Carl and davebydesignDave. Very cool to see what they had to show... I really liked the katanas. Later that night I watched a William Shatner double feature that consisted of his Comedy Central roast (which I laughed my ass off at) and "Incubus", a movie with all of the dialog in Esperanto (and which I am still not sure about).

  • Watched "Extract" and "9". Both were good, but not as awesome as some of the earlier summer movies I saw this year. Still worth a viewing IMHO

  • Finished every episode of True Blood except the one that ends the season this coming Sunday. Also got caught up on Dexter, so I'm ready for season 4. Gotta love HBO and Showtime!

Here is a video (taken with my Centro) of djinnethGwynne's cat Biko drinking from the garden hose:

So, what's been going on with me lately you might wonder? Well, for starters I am about to be without a home as of this Thursday. This has been depressing me and I suppose I've been in denial about having to move for the most part, but last night I really started to feel the pressure on me. I started scouring Craigslist, and long story short I am meeting with someone in San Mateo tomorrow afternoon. I work from 9AM - 1PM, then I will take Caltrain and a bus to the place on Lake street. I also managed to procure an interview with a company that pays over $17 an hour. The interview is at 5 PM on the same day... so I think I'll have to take a taxi and to hell with the cost. If I can score both the place and the job I'll have it made. If I can't find something very soon I may have to move back to Eureka. I don't have concrete plans up there either, but at least my money will last longer rent-wise, and my sisters are there, plus I know the area.

I was feeling all sad and depressed earlier this morning, and had laid back down on the couch to just rest a bit, when Selene and Biko both jumped up on me. Selene snuggled under the blanket while Biko lay on top of my chest. This made me feel better. It's like they knew I needed loves. I'll miss those two.

In good news, just one more week until we have a new president! And if I find a place that has cable I can watch BSG and Lost and Heroes and Smallville and... woot! Oh, and I got my deposit back with Sprint, so I don't have to pay my cell bill for the next 4 months or so!

And now, the anatomy of a Lego person:

So... I almost died earlier this morning.

It was about 5:30 AM or so. I woke up coughing violently, and suddenly I couldn't breathe. I was literally gasping for air. I was very loud... if anyone passing by on the street had heard me they would have been worried for sure. I thought to myself that this was it... I was going to die with two kitties wondering why their daddy wasn't giving them loves no matter how much they meowed at him.

Okay, I didn't really think about the kitties...

I knew I wasn't able to breathe partly because I was panicking. I forced myself to calm down, which was difficult, and before long I was able to suck in some air. I went back to bed after Twittering, but stayed awake propped up for a bit, scared out of my wits. Eventually I was able to relax enough to get back to sleep.

This might just be what it took to make me go see a doctor...

Started the Excel spreadsheet for the SiliCon dealers last night, but I still have to do the rest and then get emails out to them, although I did email back some of the dealers who have been waiting for a reply.

Was woken up earlier than I had planned to be awake by a dog right outside my window. People wonder why I'm not a huge fan of dogs... that is one reason why. Cats don't bark and they don't have huge tongues that slobber all over you. Anyway, I got some laundry into the washer, then after a bit started pumping out emails with my resume attached all rapidfire-like. With any luck I'll have a new job by the 1st. I'll just have to make sure I am able to get that time off in October for SiliCon...

On a side note, the trailer for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" premiers on AOL tonight sometime around 9 PM. Woo hoo!

So I just got home from work. I missed my connection an hour earlier, so I wasted some time at B & N, then caught the 250 and so on. Halfway home this little black kitten scampers by and hides under a nearby car. For the hell of it I made my "here kitty" noise, and the kitten actually comes to me, thus the beginning of my giving it loves and it circling me and enjoying said loves. This results in the kitten and it's sibling (I assume) following me all the way home. I somewhat amusedly yet sadly left them in the front yard...

You don't know how tempted I was to take one or both inside and have a new pet/pets though.

The thing is, I'm not the best at taking care of myself much less an animal or two. Perhaps sometime in the future... for now I still get to visit Selene and Biko.

I decided to join I Can Haz for the hell of it. I uploaded a couple pics of the kittehs, let djinnethGwynne know, and she came up with the following using one of Selene:

I only came up with this Rent related one, which isn't nearly as funny:

Selene and Biko

I worked yesterday, and it was good. The day went by fairly quickly and then it was time for djinnethGwynne to pick me up for dinner.

We decided to try a Thai place called Ka Ra Kade that was very near where we live... though we were apprehensive. We'd gone to that location before, and the experience wasn't a good one, but the restaurant looked like it was under new ownership now. We were pleasantly surprised at the redesign, but even moreso when we got our food. For instance we ordered satay as an appetizer, and whereas the last time it was bland and the peanut sauce wasn't good at all, this time both were super tasty. I liked their garlic pepper chicken, but Gwynne's pad see-ew was just scrumptious. The waiter was attentive (but it was just us and two other people in the place) and the owner (I believe) was very friendly, chatting us up while we ate. It was a very nice dining experience and we'll surely be going there again. Check out the third paragraph in Gwynnie's LJ entry here for her take on the place.

Anyway, when we got home (all nice and full) I checked the mail and discovered a check from Sharper Image. I excitedly opened it to discover it was for the amount of...

... thirty-four cents.

Yes, they spent forty-one cents to sent me a check I'd actually feel embarrassed to cash if I walked into WaMu with it. Anyway, after calling the assistant manager of SI and having a good laugh with him about it I settled in and watched Smallville and Lost (which I reviewed here) while also using the electric kettle to heat up her royal flyness' bathwater because I am a loving boyfriend type person. Then, when she went to bed I stayed up until 2 AM reading up on Lost and getting into the online experience.

I woke up this morning (well, just a little bit ago actually) to Selene pawing at the blanket right near my face in an effort to burrow under there right next me. It was very cute. That last about five minutes before I got up and did my usual morning routine, which resulted in this post. I have the day off, and I may go to Lee's to pick up some comics... I dunno.

Sunday: Worked. angry_wolfCarl came to pick me up, and when we got to the Nuthouse we had a very tasty dinner made by djinnethGwynne and watched a DVD of Pixar shorts (coincidentally on the anniversary of Pixar's founding).

Monday: I was very domestic, taking care of such things as laundry and dishes, as well as other stuff like sending in my tax return papers. Ate pizza and watched Sarah Connor plus two eps of Buffy with Gwynneth.

Tuesday: Got to hang out with our former neighbor, Kathy, and did a little shopping. Took a nap with Mr. Selene. Watched an episode of Buffy and three eps of Good Eats.

Today: Haven't done a damned thing other than websurfing and eating some cereal. Tonight I have an evening with Gwynnie to look forward to, with a strong chance of watching "Scorched".

I had a good day at work yesterday, which is pretty usual for working at Books Inc. After work I got a ride with two of my co-workers and ended up at Pizza My Heart, where I had a great time talking with many of my co-workers and a few of their significant others. I got home rather later than I thought I would, but I still managed to get in some t.v. before going to bed.

I ended up taking the day off today as I wasn't feeling that well... in fact shortly before I was going to take a shower I threw up. I called in and the manager was very nice about giving me the day off. I spent the day doing a lot of laundry, watching two discs worth of BtVS season 2, ending on episode 8) and taking a nap with Selene. Now I am waiting for djinnethGwynne to get home so we can watch the season finale of Heroes and possibly some Tin Man, of which tonight is the second episode (we haven't seen any of it yet though).

Tomorrow night might possibly be a viewing of "The Mist", then a free screening of "Juno" on the 6th. And of course Friday is special to me for some reason... or 35 of them actually.
brandeks: (huh?)

What can I say? I was in a kitty icon making mood.

Add to that a few I've had for awhile:

brandeks: (WTF)
Ah yes... nothing like going into the den you just cleaned yesterday and finding cat spray all over your fucking DVDs. Again. Yay... now even more of my collection is ruined with cat pee.

What a great start to the day. Can I go back to bed? No... gotta get to work now.

  • I feel like my life is chaotic right now... I look around the den, where I type this, and it's like a physical representation of my life with everything all strewn about, out of place. I suppose there will be a time when I'll have more order, but right now I'm pretty stressed out.

  • The cold or whatever I had is all but a very tiny bit gone. I'd say I'm at 98%.

  • I am working six days next week, as a co-worker is leaving the company after Sunday. In other work news the owner has requested I take pictures of the staff for the website... maybe now I'll be listed on the site among my co-workers... I mean, it's only been over a year that I've worked there.

  • There's a guy hammering on the hood of the car next door... quite annoying. Figures it's on my day off. At least I'm not trying to sleep.

  • I'm looking forward to the Kid Beyond concert tonight. It will be the first time I have seen him. Can't wait!

  • I can't believe I've seen "Spider-Man 3" only once... I want to go see it on IMAX this weekend or something.

  • Selene and Biko are the cutest kitties in the world when they're all cuddled up to each other )

Can they get any cuter?! Yes, they can... )
brandeks: (south park eks)
  • It is damned cold in this house.

  • I want to go to the Parkway and see Buffy episodes (including OMWF) on the big screen... if only that were happening tonight. Wait... it is!

  • One or both of the kitties have returned to their evil ways of urinating on my stuff. If that isn't a reason to move out I don't know what is.

  • I just got paid. My check looks a little healthier with the 5 days and raise.

  • I need to find out more about this Harlan Ellison project. Thanks angry_wolfCarl for the link!

What better time to do some Spring cleaning than within a few days of the first day of Spring?

Yesterday was my self-proclaimed day off from doing anything. I did do a few loads of laundry, but otherwise all I did was watch "Hollywoodland" and websurf during the day, then had some pizza and watched "Unknown" with Gwynne at night after we put up some shelves, then did some more websurfing. A nice relaxing day off, just what the doctor ordered (if I could afford health care).

I woke up today not feeling that well, but after awhile I finally got the energy to do some cleaning here and there, and the next thing I knew I'd done more than I set out to do. I took out a bunch of garbage and recycling, cleaned off the couch in the den (more difficult than you might think), put as many of my CDs into the CD tower (that Gwynnie got for me awhile ago) as I could and boxed the rest, started some more laundry (including bedsheets), and I have plans to do dishes and do some more work on the den. Today has been so perfect weather-wise... I've opened both doors and all the windows in the house which has created a nice breeze, and of course I'm in a tank top and shorts. I've tried to make sure the kitties are outside as much as possible so they can enjoy the weather, but they seem to like being indoors. Ah well.

... it really has. A week at least. What have I been up to? )
brandeks: (biohazard)
I'm coughing. My lower back hurts. I'm definately not feeling 100%...

So why am I going into work?

Oh yeah... teh $$$.

Yesterday was the worst of it though. I could barely walk around the house with all the aches and pains. Later in the evening, after watching the rest of Sealab 2021 season 4, I was finally well enough for dinner out at El Torito's with djinnethGwynne and even a shopping trip to Long's. Yay for 75% off Eksmas ornaments! I got a Spidey one and a interconnecting set of 6 Marvel heroes, plus a light-up penguin mantle stocking holder. Sweet! However the cough got worse...

But yeah... I'd much rather stay home and cuddle with the purring ball of cuteness who is Jake, our kittysitting gig: )

But since the aches and pains are minimal and even the coughing isn't quite so bad, I'm off to geekworld.
brandeks: (me thoughtful)
  • 34. {sigh}

  • I really miss the kitties. I also wish djinnethGwynne were home so we could cuddle.

  • It's nice to have a few days off in a row... it seems like I've been working nonstop for awhile - not that that's a bad thing since I could use the money.

  • Payday can't come soon enough.

  • I don't think boxes will be a problem when we are packing up.

  • Between BSG, Lost, Rome, and possibly Heroes and Preacher I think Gwynne and I will need to get cable at the new place.

  • I am so glad I bought the Gnarls Barkley CD set... I listen to it everyday.
