Not much has happened since my last post...

  • I have been working six days a week. Getting close to 40 hours, which is nice, but I also miss having two days off a week.

  • Got my room pretty much the way I want it (although I could use a mini-fridge in here).

  • Finally got my hair cut... long overdue, I gotta say.

  • Not willing to wait until I transfer the data from my old computer to this one, I have taken to ripping my CDs a few at a time and I usually fall asleep to one playlist or another.

  • I've been going back and forth from enjoying being alone when I'm not working to wanting to be social.

  • Watched the following DVDs recently: "Greenberg", "Rashomon", "A Few Dollars More", "Batman - Under The Red Hood", and "The Experiment".

  • The DVR is now set to record the following shows: The Big Bang Theory, Shit My Dad Says, The Venture Bros., Caprica, Attack of the Show, No Ordinary Family, and Smallville.

  • "The Incredible Hulk" was made of awesome sauce. That's two for two since Marvel started making their own movies. Woot!

  • I need to remember that if I don't eat every now and then my body hates me and decides to make my brain feel weird. Right.

  • Neck was getting better, but this morning it started hurting again.

  • At work I was told by my boss that I'll be training for the sale books position, a position usually reserved for supervisors. Not sure what that means exactly... stay tuned.

  • I learned last night that Palm is now offering a free client for Facebook users. I have a Palm Centro, I use Facebook, and I like new stuff so this was a no brainer. I also found a Palm client for Twitter users. Again, had to get it.

  • Gotta remember to download Firefox 3 tomorrow:
    Download Day - English.

A lot has happened in the past two months since my last post.

Where to begin? )

My new computer rocks!

Big thanks to siestrionMike for providing it and to moonwhispersBrian for transporting it (and me) to the Nuthouse.

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1.99 Ghz. 1.00 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700
80 GB hard drive
CDWRITER IDE5224 / DVD-16X DVD-RPM BDV316C
Samsung SyncMaster 21GLs

My next door neighbor got herself a new computer recently, and this weekened she gave me her old one. It took awhile, but I finally solved a few problems I was having (installing the hard drive from the old computer into the new one, the CD-ROM drives not working, and the network card needing a driver). Now that I got this working properly (with help from moonwhispersBrian... thanks again man!) I think I'll leave it alone for tonight and head to bed.

So... the improvements:

  • One of the CD-ROM drives is actually a burner... haven't had one in awhile, so that'll be fun

  • Processing speed has gone from 667 mhz to 933 mhz, and yes, it's a Pentium (III to be exact)

  • Ram has increased from two hundred something to 383 MB

  • The hard drive that was in the new computer had a ton of music that I am very happy keeping

  • Hard drive space on the new drive at this point leaves me with over 6 gigs of free space as opposed to the half gig on the old drive
Now I realize that for most of you readers you're thinking "how can he survive on such an ancient machine?!" Well, I don't have the money for something brand new, and beggars can't be choosers. Believe me, I'm happy with what I've got.

I had a nice relaxing Friday, basically lounging around the house dealing with, yes you guessed it, still being sick as a targ. Poor djinnethGwynne was seemingly even worse than I was... it's as if she's one day behind me vis a vis "phases of being sick". In any case, at some point in our day we watched "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (which we were going to watch on the 3rd but got delayed) then we lay down for a nap. We woke up and were both in need of some dinner, so we ordered a pizza and watched the second disc of "Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder", which took place in London. Funny, but not as much as the Toronto concert, and since she hasn't seen the first one I just put that on my Netflix queue. We also ended up watching the ending of Temple of Doom, as Gwynnie had fallen asleep the time she'd watched it before. Meanwhile, around 4 PM the internet service decided to take a vacation. Unlike usual, I ignored the problem while watching the DVD, but afterward I decided to fix the problem. Nothing I did worked, but this time I broke down and called tech support. The girl I talked to (after the fucking phone tree wasted my time) was about as helpful as my sister Lelia would be... in other words, not very. "Turn this off, turn that off, wait, now plug them in again"... I mean seriously. She sounded like she was still in high school... I'm pretty sure I knew more than she does (which was apparent in that she ended up having to pass the buck to a service tech who's supposed to get back to us). No matter though... I got on my PC and had us back online in less than five minutes. As Jobe Smith the Lawnmower Man once said "I am GOD here!" Well, at least I'm computer savvy enough to get us net access again. Whatever.

I will be going to sleep soon, and when I wake up I have three days of work in which I will hopefully not be sick anymore and no more stupid ass letters have come regarding shit I didn't do. Word.

yummy...

My del.icio.us bookmarks

del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere, too. On del.icio.us, you can use tags to organize and remember your bookmarks, which is a much more flexible system than folders.

You can also use del.icio.us to see the interesting links that your friends and other people bookmark, and share links with them in return. You can even browse and search del.icio.us to discover the cool and useful bookmarks that everyone else has saved -- which is made easy with tags.

Such a cool idea... storing your bookmarks online so you can use them from any computer! Why did it take so long for me to catch on to this?

I found a site that will take your pics, either from what you upload or what you already have on your MySpace, and host them, as well as making them a slide show which you can then post pretty much anywhere... I opted for the MySpace option as a test:

  • I'm drinking Snapple Pie with my dinner. The best liquid apple pie on earth. 'Nuff said.

  • Entertainment Weekly is pissing me off. No articles on the new WAY CD in any issues printed either before or since it's release. I even wrote about it in the [livejournal.com profile] weird_al community here. Diddy AKA Sean "I can't stick with one name to save my life" Combs gets two entries in this weeks issue, but nothing on Al. Diddy! What kind of a fucking name is that anyway?! Bah.

  • I took a longer nap that I had intended to today. So I missed out on reading tomorrow's new comics. On the bright side, disc 3 of BSG season 2.5 came today, which djinnethGwynne and I will be watching at least some of tonight, so frak it.

  • As of today I am using Media Monkey instead of Windows Media Player. Generally, I like it. It even has a sleep timer... hence my napping from the last bullet.

  • If you're a Browncoat you owe it to yourself to check out Black Market Beagles.com, run by a cool guy I know named lexigeekAdam. I thnk I may get the YoSaffBridge Husbands Club t-shirt. His other site, Lexigeek.com, is pretty shiny too.

Okay - that's all I got for now...
