I have been emailing people via Craigslist ads regarding rooms for rent. I've looked at a few but I am apparently not getting one in Palo Alto that would have been perfect, however I am still looking. In fact, I have an appointment tomorrow in Burlingame to look at a room. I am working five days a week at Calafia, which is nice... I could use the extra hours. Meanwhile, I have been watching the following either live, streaming, or on DVD: Caprica, Lost (awesome start to this last season!), Spartacus: Blood & Sand, The Big Bang Theory (halfway through season 3), & Heroes (season finale next Monday). I am very much looking forward to a free screening of "Serenity" at Google on the 11th and the MC Frontalot concert on the 15th.

So I talked to Charlie Ayers on Friday, and have become re-employed at Calafia. I will be doing odds and ends, helping out where needed, at my last rate of pay. I did indeed have my interview at Macy's also on Friday, and apparently the young woman who interviewed me liked me enough that she had me interview with someone else today, and... I fill out paperwork tomorrow afternoon! Yes, I got two jobs within a few days of each other. I am quite happy with this. As far as a place to sleep, I talked with some InnVision staff on Friday at Charlie's behest, but then after staying a few days at Brian's I am (at least for now) staying with Carl and his family. I am going to keep looking for something more permanent, but at least I am off the streets.

Oh, and last night it was great to hang out with friends, eat a super tasty dinner and dessert, and play probably my favorite game Apples to Apples. Today I got to watch Stargate Universe and later tonight I will watch Heroes. I will try hard not to think about the fact that "Star Trek" is being released on DVD tomorrow and that the Target version has a model of the Enterprise that comes with it.

It's been a week, so I guess I should update this thing...

Last night after work I got to hang out with angry_wolfCarl, moonwhispersBrian, and sausage_boyLloyd. Much laughter was had and beer, pizza, and donuts were consumed. We watched "Hardware Wars" (I can't believe I hadn't seen it before... hilarious!) and most of "A Knight's Tale" before calling it a night. Thanks guys for an awesome evening!

Watched "Mystery Men", The Guild webisodes, Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse, The Venture Bros., "How To Lose Friends & Alienate People", and "The Man with The Screaming Brain" this past week. Some of that was online, some from Netflix, and some was cable t.v. (thanks Carl!)

Work (both jobs) continues to go well. That's all I can say about that. I have tomorrow off, and I will most likely do laundry and possibly go see "Watchmen" on IMAX in the city with friends.

The Girl Scouts are selling their cookies at Town & Country Village, where my workplaces are. One asked if I wanted to buy some as I was walking by... I inquired if they were made with real Girl Scouts. No one said I'm original, but that response got some laughs from the girls. For the record I did not buy any...

And finally, a very happy birthday to the very awesome spdrwnAmy!

So, what's been going on with me lately you might wonder? Well, for starters I am about to be without a home as of this Thursday. This has been depressing me and I suppose I've been in denial about having to move for the most part, but last night I really started to feel the pressure on me. I started scouring Craigslist, and long story short I am meeting with someone in San Mateo tomorrow afternoon. I work from 9AM - 1PM, then I will take Caltrain and a bus to the place on Lake street. I also managed to procure an interview with a company that pays over $17 an hour. The interview is at 5 PM on the same day... so I think I'll have to take a taxi and to hell with the cost. If I can score both the place and the job I'll have it made. If I can't find something very soon I may have to move back to Eureka. I don't have concrete plans up there either, but at least my money will last longer rent-wise, and my sisters are there, plus I know the area.

I was feeling all sad and depressed earlier this morning, and had laid back down on the couch to just rest a bit, when Selene and Biko both jumped up on me. Selene snuggled under the blanket while Biko lay on top of my chest. This made me feel better. It's like they knew I needed loves. I'll miss those two.

In good news, just one more week until we have a new president! And if I find a place that has cable I can watch BSG and Lost and Heroes and Smallville and... woot! Oh, and I got my deposit back with Sprint, so I don't have to pay my cell bill for the next 4 months or so!

And now, the anatomy of a Lego person:

Thank you djinnethGwynne for being the camerawoman!

  • I am all ready to vote for "that one".

  • Heroes is getting better and better this season.

  • I have eaten way too many cookies in the last 24 hours. There were quite a few to choose from at our Mother's Cookies going away party last night:

So not much has been going on lately. Here's a bit of it though:  )

So after a fairly short day at work I was picked up by djinnethGwynne and taken to New Kapadokia, a Turkish restaurant, where we met up with alotheriaSarah J. & Simon. I had their Köfte Kebab, which is "five miniature hamburgers, seasoned with Turkish spices, flame-broiled to perfection and served with rice". Very tasty. We finished dinner just in time to catch a showing of the number one movie in the country, "Cloverfield". There were a billion trailers before it started, including the teaser for the new Star Trek film, also produced (as well as directed) by J.J. Abrams. Just after that trailer the movie began...

"Cloverfield" was awesome. Period. Moving on...

I will be enjoying the next two days off from work (although it feels like I'm coming down with a cold), possibly by hooking up my PS2 in the living room and playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and maybe even reading a book or something while drinking a Slusho!... I figure if it's good enough for Kaito and Hiro Nakamura it's good enough for me.

I just had to say... so good! Sorry angry_wolfCarl.

And to know it's coming back in 2008 makes me very much with the happy.

What did ya'll think?

I had a good day at work yesterday, which is pretty usual for working at Books Inc. After work I got a ride with two of my co-workers and ended up at Pizza My Heart, where I had a great time talking with many of my co-workers and a few of their significant others. I got home rather later than I thought I would, but I still managed to get in some t.v. before going to bed.

I ended up taking the day off today as I wasn't feeling that well... in fact shortly before I was going to take a shower I threw up. I called in and the manager was very nice about giving me the day off. I spent the day doing a lot of laundry, watching two discs worth of BtVS season 2, ending on episode 8) and taking a nap with Selene. Now I am waiting for djinnethGwynne to get home so we can watch the season finale of Heroes and possibly some Tin Man, of which tonight is the second episode (we haven't seen any of it yet though).

Tomorrow night might possibly be a viewing of "The Mist", then a free screening of "Juno" on the 6th. And of course Friday is special to me for some reason... or 35 of them actually.

So I'm watching Bionic Woman with djinnethGwynne tonight on the ol' DVR. Jaime and her sister are in a hotel room watching television. What's on the screen? A certain Japanese office worker yelling "yatta!"

Yes, the Bionic Woman watches Heroes.

I was quite amused.

I really want to try to keep up with my LJ more than I have the last few months (which is barely) so here goes something... )

For posterity, here are Schaffer the Darklord's verses from I Hate Your Blog & Nerdcore Rising at the show that night... (he sent them to me via MySpace this morning): )

Best. Heroes episode. Ever.

The damned writer's strike needs to end... so that we can have more of this awesome show.

Update 20 November 2007 / 10:55 AM - I just wanted to share some websites that may be of interest to Heroes fans:The cool thing about all of these sites is that they make it seem like you're part of the Heroes universe. As a bonus, here's where you can find the Heroes online graphic novels, of which 34 have already been collected in a hardback book (that I, of course, have on hold at work). They help to fill in the backstories of many of the characters... good stuff.

was brought to you by the letters O, M, F, and G.

Gods, this show is fucking good.

And finally... next week we get some real answers.

Last night consisted of shopping for groceries, throwing out a bunch of old food due to the moth problem (motherfuckers), the eating of tasty sloppy Joes, and the watching of "Zathura" (a better movie than I had thought it would be)... all with the lovely company of my sweet djinnethGwynne. During the day I accompanied my neighbor while she went shopping, and she ended up giving me her old Creative Zen Sleek Photo MP3 player which she can't use because it's not compatible with Vista. She's so nice to me! I just have to wait for the charger/sync cable to arrive in the mail and I will be able to listen to pretty much everything in my music folder on my computer while out and about. This will definitely work until tax return season when I get my 80 gig Zune. Anyway, at some point tonight Gwynnie and I will settle in and watch the new Bionic Woman. I think I watch something pretty much every night just to take my mind off the fact that it's a week between Heroes episodes. {sigh}

I had a wonderful weekend with djinnethGwynne. Sleeping way in, lazing around, generally enjoying each other's company. We didn't get anything done, but it was nice to relax with my sweetie. This week we'll be cleaning the house for the festivities on Sunday.

We went to figbashDarcy's party on Saturday night, which was fun. They guy who was supposed to run dealer's room (see this post) was there, and it was his birthday. Almost got tazed (well, not really tazed I guess) but the battery had died just before I got my chance. The cake was quite tasty, Gwynne's cookies were a hit, and we had to leave all too soon.

Yesterday I got a chance to talk to my sister Lelia. She called me, and the first thing she asked was regarding whether or not Beastie Boys sang My Posse's On Broadway. I assured her it was Sir Mix-A-Lot. Considering the lyric that's being used for my LJ title I guess I can understand her confusion. Anyway, she said she was doing well and didn't give me any grief about being unemployed again, which was cool. I really want to go see her and my other sister Sarah soon.

Tonight is Heroes and possibly dinner at Chili's (or maybe sloppy Joes). Looking forward to another nice night with Gwynnie.

Oh yeah... made a new icon today - a pirate penguin. Arrr!
