It's been a week, so I guess I should update this thing...

Last night after work I got to hang out with angry_wolfCarl, moonwhispersBrian, and sausage_boyLloyd. Much laughter was had and beer, pizza, and donuts were consumed. We watched "Hardware Wars" (I can't believe I hadn't seen it before... hilarious!) and most of "A Knight's Tale" before calling it a night. Thanks guys for an awesome evening!

Watched "Mystery Men", The Guild webisodes, Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse, The Venture Bros., "How To Lose Friends & Alienate People", and "The Man with The Screaming Brain" this past week. Some of that was online, some from Netflix, and some was cable t.v. (thanks Carl!)

Work (both jobs) continues to go well. That's all I can say about that. I have tomorrow off, and I will most likely do laundry and possibly go see "Watchmen" on IMAX in the city with friends.

The Girl Scouts are selling their cookies at Town & Country Village, where my workplaces are. One asked if I wanted to buy some as I was walking by... I inquired if they were made with real Girl Scouts. No one said I'm original, but that response got some laughs from the girls. For the record I did not buy any...

And finally, a very happy birthday to the very awesome spdrwnAmy!

  • I got to see moonwhispersBrian and duskwalker666Rainah tonight, though I wish it were under better circumstances... she's moving away. That makes me sad. But it's for the best I suppose. At least I got to have dinner at Chili's and watch Dr. Horrible with them and zackerysperdutoZack before heading home, which was fun.

  • Later today, at 10 AM, I start my first actual day of work at Calafia's market. I am excited! I then work the next few days.

  • I now have tickets for all three days of Wondercon and for the midnight showing of "Watchmen" at Tanforan. Woot!

  • I talked to my housemate about the internet deal and how I'm only able to be online half the time, so from April onward I will pay him just $10 a month... he said I don't need to pay for March since the $20 I paid this month will cover two months at the new price. I still might just get my own cable internet subscription at some point in the near future.

After a month of not having internet at home I finally do. The deal is I pay one of my housemates $20 a month and that gives me access. Works for me!

This is so much awesome...

So I figured out how to update my Twitter with a URL to a pic I take on my phone... I email the pic to twitpic, which then sends the URL to Twitter almost instantly. Expect more mobile pic tweets! Here is my first one:

As I commented on the page for the pic I am on my day off, so I don't look my best. I'm thinking of shaving off the facial hair, but then I want to keep it as my "winter look". I dunno...

I just made these two LOLcats using pics of my two favorite kittehs:

  • I've been sick for the past week... I have a chest cold that isn't serious enough to stay home from work but is bad enough to be very annoying. At least I have today off of work.

  • Barack Obama's speech was simply awesome. This guy is going to win, I just know it. If so, the future could be something to look forward to for a change

  • Happy birthday mc chris! Go robot, it's your birthday...

  • Google is releasing a new web browser today. Firefox, thou days art numbered...

  • The Dr. Horrible soundtrack is finally available on iTunes. The official lyrics can be found here. Of course the soundtrack is already on my hard drive and my Zen, but I'll still get the CD when it comes out.

  • I have been reading the immensely enjoyable Artemis Fowl series. I am now on book four and I am barely able to stop reading to make time for things like work and sleep.

  • I forgot just how fun "Men In Black" is. I also can't believe I forgot/didn't know it was a Marvel Comic (kinda)!

  • "Tropic Thunder" was hilarious. Robert Downey Jr. was perfect. I now want to see "Hamlet 2" and "Burn After Reading"

Ever wanted to make your own Star Wars crawl? you know, like these, but animated like in the beginning of the Star Wars films:

Well, now you can!

Update 22 August 2008 / 12:27 PM - On a whim I decided to check if the site was still active and read the following:

This site has been closed.

LucasFilm has asked us to remove this site. We have enjoyed seeing the tens of thousands of users over the past several days, and thank you for your interest.

Yesterday, after dealing with a couple of pissy customers during an otherwise nice day at work, I got home and watched the new episode of Lost. Goddamn, that was a seriously great episode... I was literally on the edge of my seat for some scenes. It asked more questions than it answered, but believe it or not I like those kind of episodes. I know that eventually those questions will be answered, and it's fun to go along for the ride. So after that I found the new Smallville episode online and watched that, but it just completely paled in comparison. Today I watched "Wedding Crashers" on DVD, which while pretty good and funny, wasn't as good as it was hyped to be. I also read more Tigerheart, which keeps getting better and better... it could be a new classic book. I will be sure to make it a staff recommendation at work. I also found a replacement for Trillian called Digsby. Despite it's questionable name it is more functional than Trillian (Pro even) while remaining free of charge (unlike Trillian Pro). I like the fact that you can integrate Facebook and MySpace accounts as well as email accounts right on the buddy list. Anyway. tonight I have a new BSG episode to look forward to, and I'm sure I won't be let down as BSG has rarely if ever done so.

I haven't mentioned yet that I met with the Sequoia Station room guy on Wednesday and locked in the room for either a 19 May or 1 June move, depending on my money situation. As much as I appreciate my coworker and her boyfriend letting me stay here in their room, I look forward to a more stable and long term living situation that is also closer to my job and friends.

And finally, if you were one of those who were watching Firefly and was really getting into it when Fox decided to pull the plug, and think you might enjoy a webcomic about people like yourself, you would do well to check out Save Hiatus, drawn by a friend of mine and high ranking Browncoat extraordinaire lexigeekAdam Levermore-Rich . This is the guy whose design for last year's event Can't Stop The Serenity poster won and was consequently used all over the world. Start here... and enjoy. I know I did.

It's amazing the stuff you can find on the internets... like this for instance which allows one to make the following picture out of this one )

... yes, I am home alone and bored... so I'm Stumbling.

So this was my first time posting to YouTube. How was I able to do it? Well, A few nights ago one of my customers sold me his Treo 650 (although I haven't actually paid him yet), and it has camera and video capability. I spent all day loading it full of stuff, and just now I realized that I could transfer video off of it and upload it to the internet.

Expect more in the future. You have been warned.

Who would have thought...

ComicSpace: a MySpace for comic enthusiasts and/or those in the business. You can find me here.
brandeks: (WAY Nerdy)
Apparently many people seem to think that MySpace is nothing more than a breeding ground to introduce pedophiles to preteen age boys and girls. Well, recently it's been more than that to me.

Hmmm... hope nobody takes that the wrong way...

Anyway, lately I have found (and been found by) friends and acquaintances from my recent and distant past (including high school). It's been kinda cool to just see what people I have completely lost touch with are doing, as well as keep up with what my friends are up to and possibly get to know them better. Also, the music pages are a great way to listen to songs from my favorite artists before they're released anywhere else. So the hatin' needs to stop.

My MySpace page... if you're interested. It's "all totally pimped out".

My bookmarks is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere, too. On, you can use tags to organize and remember your bookmarks, which is a much more flexible system than folders.

You can also use to see the interesting links that your friends and other people bookmark, and share links with them in return. You can even browse and search to discover the cool and useful bookmarks that everyone else has saved -- which is made easy with tags.

Such a cool idea... storing your bookmarks online so you can use them from any computer! Why did it take so long for me to catch on to this?
brandeks: (huh?)
I found a site that will take your pics, either from what you upload or what you already have on your MySpace, and host them, as well as making them a slide show which you can then post pretty much anywhere... I opted for the MySpace option as a test:

I had a pretty relaxing day off today (yesterday technically). Fortunately, the internet problems we were having the night before were gone, so I was able to websurf and such. I listened to all kinds of songs on Pandora... I gotta say, it really rocks. I am trying not to skip songs as much as I used to and find that I enjoy what I hear... who knows? I may start using the songs from Pandora as my current music on my posts as I have done on this one. Anyway, I watched an episode of Wonder Showzen (season 2, episode 1) in the early evening with djinnethGwynne while eating pizza, then she was off to school. She picked me up afterward and we went shopping for much needed food (for us and the kitties), then we got home and put it all away. Gwynnie had said she didn't want to stay awake for a whole episode of BSG (I was looking forward to watching Sacrifice and The Captain's Hand tonight after watching the previous two eps last night). I had showed her some The Oblongs episodes the other day and she enjoyed them, so we ended up agreeing on an episode of that instead. I am feeling pretty awake right now, so I think I'll find something to do as she sleeps.
