Damn, it's been awhile...

Let's see... I have to move again due to my letting my temper get the best of me in regards to dealing with my impatient roommate. I had the room all situated, too... posters up, books on shelves etc. Still working at Calafia... getting about 30 hours a week, so that's good (though I'd still like more). I had a blast at djinnethGwynne's birthday party the other night (there's a pic below of angry_wolfCarl, davebydesignDave, and I). Looking very forward to Wondercon 2010 in a few weeks. Love MC Frontalot's new album Zero Day. Been enjoying my usual shows thanks to having cable. Oh, and there's this...

Here you are at last
To bring my cold lonely soul sweet release
From my weary past
Always searching, the one missing piece was you
And I beg you, come away with me
And together we will find a place to call our own
I can’t wait to see what I can do
With a laptop like you

So after not having a computer since before I had to move from San Bruno I finally have a laptop, courtesy of spdrwnAmy... thanks Amy! It's a shiny black and silver HP Pavilion dv2000 and it's already covered with my geekiest stickers. I heart it!

And here's the pic I mentioned above: )

Not a whole lot to say... well...

Still working at Calafia, getting more hours there than before but not enough to live on. Keeping my eyes out for an additional job. I've saved a ton of money over Eksmas and since, but I need more income on a monthly basis before I move into my own place again.

I've been playing Batman: Arkham Asylum on moonwhispersBrian's PS3 and I've been loving it. Have watched some movies with angry_wolfCarl recently that include "Book of Eli" (liked it) and "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (loved it). Looking forward to the MC Frontalot concert on 15 February and Wondercon 2010 at the beginning of April, not to mention the returns of Lost, V, and the premier of Caprica. Also, I've decided that I need to get out more with friends and DO stuff. I need more of a life than what I've got going on now. For instance, I really liked a recent dinner at spideyjKanane's house, where I met some funny and cool people plus learned of the awesomeness that is The Big Bang Theory. I have enjoyed my Wednesday night comic book store geekout sessions with a friend/former coworker and the regular customers I know from having worked there. I have not, however, been enjoying the rain and cold as walking in or waiting for the bus in said elements are of teh suck. I did like what I saw yesterday after the rain:

Haven't posted in awhile, mostly because not much has been happening, but lately there have been a few things...

On Monday I went to the San Mateo County Fair and had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and consuming various foodstuffs. One thing I decided to splurge on was a tall, red, plastic cup of lemonade that I was able to refill as many times as I wanted for the day... which ended up being 4 or 5 (I lost count). Below is a pic of me with said lemonade.

Me in my Duff beer shirt drinking cool, refreshing lemonade...

Today (Wednesday) I took BART with angry_wolfCarl to the Oakland Coliseum to see the A's play the Yankees. The A's lost 3-2, but I had a blast anyway. Highlights included a home run by one A's player (Cust) and another player (Ellis) actually breaking his bat (the top half of which flew and landed almost vertically, piercing the dirt), not to mention a spectacular catch by Davis. Oh, and did I mention we had great seats? Check out where I took the below pic from:

The view from section 124, row 30, seat 6...

Gwynne and I will be heading to Sarah & Simon's housewarming barbecue party soon. Gwynne has been making and decorating the cake (seen in the pic above) all morning while I have helped her in a domestic way. The cake is yellow with vanilla frosting and lemon flavor, and the fondant makes it look like a barbecue complete with cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and corn. Can't wait to taste it!

Today was pretty much full of win all over. First, I got to sleep way in. Then, angry_wolfCarl came over after he got out of work and we watched "The Great Escape", a movie I highly recommend to anyone. After the movie, we went to Tanforan to have dinner, then said our goodbyes. I went to Target to get chocos, then went to the theater to stand in line... at about 8 PM. Yes, only four hours before the movie was to start! Before long there was an actual line, most of which were wearing Transformers apparel like myself (my Autobot symbol t-shirt and hat). Soon mortefinaSarah P. and her sisters Diana and Catherine showed up, which was a nice surprise. It was great talking to them... it helped pass the time. At one point the guy from the theater who gave me a Star Trek hat (as mentioned here) gave me a Transformers hat with a Decepticon symbol on the front... below is a pic of Diana wearing my new hat (which I subsequently let Catherine borrow for the time being):

The theater was packed when our line was let in about 10:45 PM or so. At 12:01 AM the movie started, and the general consensus is that it totally rocked. I think it was better than the first movie... everything I liked about the first one was duplicated and expanded upon. The mom was even more hilarious in this one, there's a lot more action, and for you haters, no Bumblebee urination. I think I'll be seeing it again.

Kirina and I at Books Inc.

I just got home from visiting with my ex-girlfriend Kirina (who I haven't seen in 10+ years!) and her family. What an unexpected pleasure! Here's the story:

Firstly, to give you a little background about Kirina and I, I met her through my sister Lelia when they were in junior high. Kirina showed me she liked me by scratching me (it was her way back then) and eventually we dated for a little while. After many years, just after Corin and I broke up, I moved to Berkeley with her for a few months until she decided to pack up and move to Chicago. I haven't talked to her in years until fairly recently via Facebook.

So tonight I was at work, I looked up to help what I expected to be my next customer, and was pleasantly surprised to find Kirina there. I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing, since she now lives in Mississippi and hadn't said a word about being in town when I had talked to her via IM just a few hours earlier. Many hugs were exchanged for the rest of the evening as I got through the end of my shift while they had dinner next door at Kirk's Steakburgers, and I then accompanied them first to Tanforan and then to her mom's place in South S.F. (her mom is on vacation and is letting Kirina and her family stay there). Kirina and I agreed on many things, one being that Rolling Pin has the best doughnuts around, including Krispy Kreme. I totally geeked out with Kirina's husband Klaus, and we both agreed on the ride home that he and I would probably hang out a lot if we lived in the same city. Eventually she announced that she was crashing, so Klaus took me home, whereupon he told me that Kirina always spoke highly of me. I got the feeling that she found a great guy for a husband and I wish her and her two children a very happy life.

I watched "Star Trek" on IMAX today at the Metreon in San Francisco with angry_wolfCarl, and when I got out I saw these three Enterprise displays, each decorated differently: pics under the cut... )

For instance, you may run into Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Supergirl! (or three young women in costumes for Bay To Breakers anyway...)

Meg Waite Clayton, author of The Wednesday Sisters, took this pic of me with my Centro a few minutes ago for her blog, and I figured I might as well post it to mine too:

When I have rotated the pic of her later tonight I shall post it. Here's a pic of Meg holding her book )

OMG! One of the employees just gave me a Star Trek hat that is only sent to managers of theaters! Check it out:

hat Trek...

They have already set up the stanchions. I moved a bench near the theater so I can be comfortable for the next 4+ hours. I re-read the prequel graphic novel and bought a Spock glass from Burger King...

Now I must wait.

A little over an hour to go!

in line for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"...

In the theater... a fellow geek lent me their Wolverine hand which they had obtained from Lee's Comics:

Goddamnit, these pics are a lot darker than they looked on my Centro... oh well.

As seen in the picture above, I now have tickets to both "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at 12:01 AM on 1 May 2009 and "Star Trek" at 7 PM on 7 May 2009, both at the Tanforan theater in San Bruno (just a few blocks away). I will be waiting in line for both showings as usual, and I am quite excited about seeing these movies (though moreso for "Star Trek").

For "Star Trek" I posted a poll in a community asking which t-shirt I should wear to the movie... my Hard Rock Cafe Risa shirt or my Lost numbers shirt. Feel free to vote! So far Hard Rock Cafe Risa is winning...

As I had previously mentioned, djinnethGwynne and I saw Schaffer The Darklord, Coolzey, and The Rhombus at the Hemlock Tavern in S.F. tonight. The highlight of the evening is when he announced to the audience that I had requested he play The Rappist, which he did, and I was brought up to the stage by the president of the local STD fan club. Also, if the tracks I heard tonight from the new album is any indication of how awesome it is going to be, then I will preorder the hell out of it. I have more to say, but for now here are two pics that were taken after the show: )

Just one month until JJ Abrams' "Star Trek" premiers. Based on the reactions from people who saw the advanced screenings in Australia and Austin, Texas a few days ago I am now even more excited about this movie than I was previously. Add to that the trailers and clips I myself have seen, and there's no doubt I will be attending the 12:01 AM showing on 8 May 2009. Three great clips are linked below:

"Relax, cupcake, it was a joke"

"Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence"

"You will answer me"

Got up yesterday on the leisurely side, got myself to the Tanforan food court, and had brunch with angry_wolfCarl. We then took BART to the con, walked around the dealer's room for awhile, and while there I met Greg Horn and got my picture taken with him (see below). Eventually Carl and I went our separate ways... I wanted to attend the BtVS OMWF singalong dealio and he didn't. After first watching the first episode of Harper's Island (it was in the same room) I enjoyed the Buffy musical episode with jasonwarlockWarlock who had found me there. After that the con was pretty much closed down, so Carl and I started to leave when I saw Ray Park trying to get some stuff into his vehicle. I went over and met him, shaking hands with him twice... very awesome! Carl and I then had some pizza, went by the Apple store, and then headed back to San Bruno where we went our separate ways for the day. I watched the rest of The Guild season 1 and "City of Ember" then let sleep take me.

Today so far I have cleaned up my room a bit, got laundry ready, and wrote this post. I am planning on doing the laundry and watching the first disc of the first season of Spaced and generally relaxing as I go back to work tomorrow.

I am including links throughout the post to the respective Tweets as what I described happened for completeness' sake.

I left the house yesterday wearing my Autobot symbol hat, "Watchmen" t-shirt, and my Spider-Man club shirt over it. Got on BART, got off at Powel street, and walked to the Moscone Center South, whereupon I got myself into line. Soon after that I met up with rackstrawAl and met a family of three who were just as excited to be there as we were. All of us got interviewed for Wondercon. Eventually we got let in to get our badges and wait in line again to be let into the dealer's room. Al got separated from me, but I talked to the family I had met and they even took a few pictures which they promised to email to me at some point. Once we were let into the dealer's room I went straight to the celebrity area and met Erin Gray, Barry Jenner, and others. I decided to bite the bullet and get in the long line for DC swag. then generally walked around the dealer's hall until angry_wolfCarl got there. We got into the very long line to try to win "Watchmen" tickets, but we ended up not winning them. We left the con to head back to Carl's place and meet up with grendelsmRudy to watch the new BSG episode. Got home and pretty much called it a night..

Today I left the house with zackerysperdutoZack in tow around 9:30 AM, took BART to the city, and while on the way to get Zack registered met Felicia Day while she was in line to get her badge. We then hurried up to the room where they were having the "Watchmen" panel, I talked to eliteLouise, and when the show started I was simply amazed at the the first ten minutes or so of the movie that they ended up showing us... basically the first 13 pages of the graphic novel, including an awesome montage over the credits. After that we got our "Watchmen" buttons, tried to get in line to see Felicia Day and failed, and ate lunch at Jollibee's. After lunch I met Wendy & Richard Pini, which was an honor since I loved Elfquest so much. Ran into jasonwarlockWarlock a few times. Bought myself my annual geeky logo shot glass, Blue Sun this time, from the Stylin' Online booth. Later on I stood in line and got my Dr. Horrible DVD signed by Felicia Day, then Carl took a picture of she and I. Carl, Zack, and I went to the Metreon to wait in line to see 45 minutes of the new Pixar film "Up".. After retrieving our cell phones we all agreed that what they showed us was just kick ass and we couldn't wait to see the whole thing at the end of May. Also, "squirrel!" Taking BART back to San Bruno, we went to moonwhispersBrian and Zack's house to watch Commentary the Musical and the ELE application videos on my Dr. Horrible DVD. Now I am home... looking forward to more Wondercon tomorrow.

Here are pics from the con... )

I have been needing a haircut for quite awhile now, and Gwynne graciously offered to do that for me tonight. So here are the before and after pics... )

The new haircut will hopefully help me make a good impression on my first day at Calafia tomorrow.
