As of right now I am without internet access. However, I figured out a way to post to LJ without having to create the post on my Centro... I write it in Semagic, copy the text to Palm desktop. HotSync, and then copy and post to the mobile LJ app on my phone! So this will be the first of those type of entries.

Today I talked to one of the head guys at Calafia, who said a week ago I should get back to him about now. He told me that he wants me in the market side of the restaurant and that I should come in on 9 February. I'm not sure, but I think I may have skipped the interview process and went straight to getting the job! So I will actually be able to afford to keep living where I am. Also, I eFiled my taxes tonight, so the refund will help as well.

So since the 16th I have gotten a new place to live, acquired a futon so I don't have to sleep on the floor anymore, watched two eps of BSG, got a new job, and did my taxes. Oh, and three words: President Barack Obama. Life is of teh good.

So, what's been going on with me lately you might wonder? Well, for starters I am about to be without a home as of this Thursday. This has been depressing me and I suppose I've been in denial about having to move for the most part, but last night I really started to feel the pressure on me. I started scouring Craigslist, and long story short I am meeting with someone in San Mateo tomorrow afternoon. I work from 9AM - 1PM, then I will take Caltrain and a bus to the place on Lake street. I also managed to procure an interview with a company that pays over $17 an hour. The interview is at 5 PM on the same day... so I think I'll have to take a taxi and to hell with the cost. If I can score both the place and the job I'll have it made. If I can't find something very soon I may have to move back to Eureka. I don't have concrete plans up there either, but at least my money will last longer rent-wise, and my sisters are there, plus I know the area.

I was feeling all sad and depressed earlier this morning, and had laid back down on the couch to just rest a bit, when Selene and Biko both jumped up on me. Selene snuggled under the blanket while Biko lay on top of my chest. This made me feel better. It's like they knew I needed loves. I'll miss those two.

In good news, just one more week until we have a new president! And if I find a place that has cable I can watch BSG and Lost and Heroes and Smallville and... woot! Oh, and I got my deposit back with Sprint, so I don't have to pay my cell bill for the next 4 months or so!

And now, the anatomy of a Lego person:

Special Inauguration Issue in shops 14 January 2008:

It's a Brand New Day for the United States of America and Spider-Man's along for the ride!

To celebrate the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama, Marvel is proud to present an all-new story teaming up one of the world's most recognizable political figures with the world's greatest super hero as President-Elect Obama joins Spider-Man in "Spidey Meets the President!"

Written by Zeb Wells with art by Todd Nauck and Frank D'Armata, the story takes place in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day and finds one of Spider-Man's oldest foes attempting to thwart the swearing in ceremony of the 44th President of the United States.

available in comic book shops nationwide on January 14th, 2009. Look for the special variant cover by artist Phil Jimenez featuring the President-Elect and Spider-Man!

"When we heard that President-Elect Obama is a collector of Spider-Man comics, we knew that these two historic figures had to meet in our comics' Marvel Universe," says Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. "Historic moments such as this one can be reflected in our comics because the Marvel Universe is set in the real world. A Spider-Man fan moving into the Oval Office is an event that must be commemorated in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man."

the issue.

Best. Marvel team up. Ever.

Update 10 January 2008 / 12:15 PM - I talked with someone at Lee's Comics last night, and found out that getting the cover shown above will be extremely difficult. They aren't getting any, and to even get the issue at all you need to be on a list. If anyone finds the issue with the cover that has Obama on it please buy it for me and I shall pay you back!

Just a little while ago I left the house, walked a few blocks, and cast my vote for change. There wasn't a line, I was in and out within minutes, and afterward I felt a sense of pride knowing that I did my part. Now it's time to wait patiently for the results.

Gods, I hope he wins. And Prop 8 just needs to DIAF.

  • I am all ready to vote for "that one".

  • Heroes is getting better and better this season.

  • I have eaten way too many cookies in the last 24 hours. There were quite a few to choose from at our Mother's Cookies going away party last night:
  • COOKIES! )
Halloween party meme... )

  • I've been sick for the past week... I have a chest cold that isn't serious enough to stay home from work but is bad enough to be very annoying. At least I have today off of work.

  • Barack Obama's speech was simply awesome. This guy is going to win, I just know it. If so, the future could be something to look forward to for a change

  • Happy birthday mc chris! Go robot, it's your birthday...

  • Google is releasing a new web browser today. Firefox, thou days art numbered...

  • The Dr. Horrible soundtrack is finally available on iTunes. The official lyrics can be found here. Of course the soundtrack is already on my hard drive and my Zen, but I'll still get the CD when it comes out.

  • I have been reading the immensely enjoyable Artemis Fowl series. I am now on book four and I am barely able to stop reading to make time for things like work and sleep.

  • I forgot just how fun "Men In Black" is. I also can't believe I forgot/didn't know it was a Marvel Comic (kinda)!

  • "Tropic Thunder" was hilarious. Robert Downey Jr. was perfect. I now want to see "Hamlet 2" and "Burn After Reading"

Updated my resume. Waiting for djinnethGwynne to check it and give me her thoughts. Sent a copy of what I had updated to a book store looking for a receiver... crossing fingers.

Also, I have done two loads of laundry so far, with a third about to be started, and I'm going to see if the dishes wouldn't mind getting tackled. In relaxation news for today I have watched a South Park episode, The Colbert Report, and started reading Colbert's new book (which is darned funny). I would totally vote for him for president. Hmmm... checking out the qualifications... I'll be turning 35 this year - maybe I should run for president myself? At least I'd be employed for four years (unless I get impeached or assassinated... or both).

  • On Tuesday I got up early and eventually bought both the "Transformers - The Movie" 20th Anniversary Edition DVD (at Borders) and Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere Deluxe Edition (at Target)... on sweet discount. I've watched pretty much every special feature on the Transformers DVD and the videos on the DVD that came with the Gnarls Barkley CD, which I am listening to and enjoying as I type this.

  • Speaking of discounts, for those who are interested, there will be a Black Friday (11/24) sale at Lee's Comics. I'll be there at 6 AM that morning... I don't know why anyone else would be up that frakkin' early, but I guess since the store will be doing mad discounts it could be worth it.

How funny is this: I am reading the newest Toyfare magazine, and on one page is an article comparing Straight Outta Lynwood and Dungeon Master of Ceremonies... both of which I own and are in fact in my stack of CDs at work. I had to laugh at my geekiness. It's no wonder I'm going to start buying Geek Monthly magazine (the first issue just came out), put out by some of the guys involved with making "Free Enterprise".

  • Mr. Show is my new god. Thank you alotheriaSarah J. for introducing it to us!

  • A bunch of "Weird Al" fans sent in their clips for a fans only video of White & Nerdy. Meh... I still think I like the official version better.

  • Last, but certainly not least... for those who haven't seen the Keith Olberman special comment, here's both the video & transcript. I stood and applauded after watching it. The man uses the word "sir" as an epithet... great stuff! Thanks to snowwyDarrin for posting it originally.
Good night, and good luck...

Meanwhile, thanks to riolentElise for this site: Lie Girls. It sounds like a 1-900 ad, but it's actually a political spoof-type thing... anti-Republican, don'tchaknow. Pretty funny!
